From tearing up cardboard and pulling out staples to a fulfilled design dream
I always had a thing for interior design and decided very early on to do school in a more practice-oriented way and started working at a company for interior decoration. Once I’ve realized that this was not the job for me at all, I was on the hunt for an alternative and finally came across media design. Once into the subject, it was settled: I am creative and I need to do something with this! Secondary school is off the table, an apprenticeship as media designer it was.
After finishing my apprenticeship, I met Joana through Lichtpoesie and was immediately pulled into the Odernichtoderdoch universe where we brought JO & JUDY to life. Design is my passion and I am so happy to be able to live this passion in two very different ways at Odernichtoderdoch and JO & JUDY.CLOSE
It might have not been the plan but that doesn’t mean it didn’t turn out awesome
Anyone who would have asked me ten years ago what I would be doing today, would have gotten one answer without hesitation: I’ll be working as a photographer in my own studio next to my house with garden and I’ll be shooting portraits every day. Well, I was right about the house and the garden. The rest just happened really fast, unplanned and so different than I could have ever imagined. I added blogging to my photography profession and ended up in design. This new field and the combination of social media and my very own universe of products offer new exciting adventures on a daily basis.
I am able to create something with our community and design the perfect products for our followers and there is no original plan that can keep up with that greatness. That’s what I do and love – I am the Creative Director of JO & JUDY and Odernichtoderdoch.CLOSE
A rather unconventional path – but so educational and exciting
At first, my job at Odernichtoderdoch should solely be a balance for the very theoretical business studies at Uni. Slowly but surely, it became a bigger part of my life. I got to discover my creativity while packing orders, helping out at the customer service and finally while photographing. I couldn’t imagine myself in Uni anymore and needed a change. When Joana and Niklas offered a training position as media designer to me, it was decided. Registered for a finances exam on Saturday and working as an apprentice by Monday!
I was there when JO & JUDY was developed to something more than just a collection and was involved in the product design from the very beginning. I have found my spot and I can’t wait for what the future has to offer. After finishing my apprenticeship later this year, I’ll stay at JO & JUDY and will design more gorgeous products with the best colleagues I could have wished for!CLOSE
When “anything to do with media” meets a powerful woman with great ambitions
After finishing my bachelor’s degree in media management at 21 - way too early if you’d ask me now - I had to leave Würzburg behind for a while to travel the world before things got serious. After my return from the San Blas Islands, San Francisco and Bali, I planned on doing my Master’s degree. Thankfully, this plan didn’t work out because I got a job offer in the field of social media and online marketing at a big German clothing brand.
When working at this brand, I came into contact with Joana and Niklas while shooting an award-winning campaign. After working together so well, we couldn’t deny the chemistry between me, 100tausendlux and especially JO & JUDY. This meant packing my bags and registering a second residence in Münster. I am working as JO & JUDY’s Business Unit Director since 2017 and my inner country girl couldn’t be happier with the new challenges and developments of this young and striving brand.CLOSE
Sometimes it has to be messy before it can get creative
Once my BA in communication design and the first work experience were in the bag, I really wanted to leave Münster and head for the big cities of Germany. After interviews in Berlin and Hamburg, I came to realize that I didn’t really identify with any of the companies and it just never felt right. I searched and searched and the solution was so close. The bags had to be squeezed back into the car and off I went to Münster again!
A very close friend of mine introduced me to JO & JUDY. Since 2017, I’m spreading creative chaos, lots of laughs and 80s vibes in my lovely team. I’m the woman behind the camera and shoot all the pictures of our products, my colleagues and a furry friend once in a while. New projects, ideas and crazy talk that turns into something great – that’s what I love to capture in an imagine, if the cloudy days of Münster allow it.CLOSE
Find out what you’re good at, what you love and turn it into the perfect job for you
I had to realize that being great at mathematics and such would increase my coolness factor immensely at the school in my small village, but I just didn’t have what it took. So I focused on writing – never published, often scribbled and mostly as an inner monologue. That’s how I came up with all my texts and stories until I graduated with a BA in linguistics and turned my inner voice into a job.
After finishing my influencer marketing internship at JO & JUDY, I am now working as a full time commercial writer and have the perfect excuse to not go back to Uni for my Master’s. In order to turn my ideas into writing and work hand in hand with a team of creative and young women in a company packed with new challenges and chances, I am happy to deal with the weekly commute of 300 km to the most gorgeous office in Münster.CLOSE
Shoes are great but interior is just the greatest
After finishing my training to become a Management Assistant in Digital and Print Media, I took a detour into the publishing industry in Münster. I quickly realized that I wanted to take my theoretical knowledge and turn it into something more practice-oriented. So I got a degree in Design and a full-time job as product manager right after. I took all the impressions from this job and went into the shoe industry where I was able to make priceless experiences and found out what I truly wanted to do: Design things that make life even more beautiful. It must have been fate that just after realizing that, I found the most perfect job offer for me – and I’m not one to gamble with fate and so I took the opportunity while jumping with excitement!
So, Hello JO & JUDY, Hello awesome work environment and exciting projects and a massive Hello to the best team. I fit in right away and have found a spot for my creative head in the prettiest office you could imagine. I probably couldn’t have made my way to JO & JUDY much longer and more complicated but it was all worth it in the end!CLOSE
Through piles of clothes, Australian beaches and uni-life to working in a creative environment and making each and every customer happy
Apprenticeship as a tailor, a degree in fashion design and after that the biggest runways I can possibly find. 17-year-old me had it all figured out! But like most plans, it didn’t quite happen like that. After finishing my apprenticeship, I made a little detour – for about 6 years – into retail. I really loved the clothes and customer contact but wanted to get creative again on my own. So I went back to school, almost moved to Australia and decided on communication studies in Münster instead. Who needs all that sun anyway.
I couldn’t completely say goodbye to retail and customer contact though and started working in the industry again on top of my studies. After witnessing various TV productions in store from a safe distance, I finally found my way to JO & JUDY. I immediately fell for their love for the smallest details, ambitious growth of the young and creative company and the best bunch of colleagues. I just had to be a part of the JO & JUDY team!CLOSE
